About us

Forty years on
Maple Ave.

Southwest Emergency Services is a Christian-based nonprofit founded by a coalition of local congregations to help families in crisis in Southwest Baltimore County.

Our mission

We provide food, personal care items, and financial assistance to neighbors facing an emergency, and we do it with dignity. No one asking for food on a one-time basis is turned away.

For more than four decades we have operated out of our own building on Maple Ave in Arbutus. SWES has no paid staff. The board, the office, and the pantry floor are all volunteers, which is how 98 percent of our income reaches clients directly.
